The Institution/ University which I will be heading, should become a world class centre for teaching, research, training and consultancy in Engineering, Science, Technology and allied fields with extensive industry partnership and international presence.

My Vision is to see that this Institute should be the International Institute of Choice for education, Research, training and consultancy. The organization will be driven forward to create human resources of eminence to positively contribute towards the generation of knowledge and social commitment through humanism and tolerance, for reason, for adventure of ideas, and for the search of truth.

Hence the Institute would therefore seek to ensure the development of centre of world-class education infrastructure, provide access to research-enabled learning, and integrate Nation-building with Academic Excellence in advanced studies.

Brief Profile

  • Prof.Mokka Jagannadha Rao, hon’ble Vice – Chancellor of Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajamahendravaram has done his education both in India and Aboard. He got his Master’s degree in Engineering from University of Alaska, USA. He got his Ph.D. from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, in the year1985. He joined as Assistant professor in the Department of geology, Andhra University in 1986 and later promoted to Professor and head of the department from the same dept.
  • He is a serious researcher and academician having more than 33 years of experience in both teaching and research. He has published nearly 150 papers in National and International Journals.
  • 33 scholars got awarded Ph.D’s under his guidance. His students are not only from geology but also from Computer Science, Geo Engineering, Geo Physics and Allied Physics.
  • He has strong research Collaboration with various organisations from USA, Canada and Australia. He has completed8 funded projects,from leading funding agencies of this Country, including DST,UGC,CSIR,DOD,APMDC-DMRTUF, MoES, ISRO and ONGC.
  • He got huge consultancy projects from ONGC, namely: 1.Studies on Holocene Evolution of Mahanadi Delta, 2.Studies on Land Subsidence due to Hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation at KG-PG Basin, AP using Remote Sensing and Field studies.
  • He has a vast experience in administration. He held various administrative positions:

  • 2. Dean for PG & Professional Examinations, Andhra University, AP
  • 3.Director for International Students Affairs- Andhra University
  • 4.Director for Delta studies Institute- Andhra University
  • 5. Chairman for Board of Studies, Dept. of Geosciences, Ambedkar University, Srikakulam, AP
  • 6. Head of the Department, Dept of Geology, Andhra University and many others.
  • He has filed a patent entitled “An Inventive Model that explains the Genesis of Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea”, which is under consideration and he is co-inventor for two more patents, one in material science and other in medical science.
  • He got many awards and honours including “Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Award”, “The Best academician award of the year 2019”, by Andhra University.
  • Awarded “Scientist of the year 2017”, by National Environmental Science Academy(NESA), New Delhi.
  • He was in Editorial board of Indian Journal of Environment and Eco planning
  • He is the member of various professional scientific bodies of National and International repute.
  • He is the NAAC accessor and many more...
  • He is a member in various boards of Selection Committees atNational and State level.
  • His earlier selections include UPSC Civil Services-Group B service- UPSC Exam in 1985,UPSC Geologists examination, all India 11th rank in 1983. Because of his passion for teaching, he is in teaching life.

  • He has demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities as thethe Vice Chancellor of AKNU, where tenure at Adikavi Nannaya University, resulted several ground-breaking initiatives, such as securing ISO certification, achieving NAAC accreditation, and obtaining AICTE certification for its Engineering and Management programs. These were considered highly challenging milestones for a young university. His academic initiatives during corona earned India Book of Records and Asia book of records, for conducting 100 webinars in shortest period of time.
